Stuff Michael Meeks is doing

This is my (in)activity log. You might like to visit my employer
Novell which is an amazing company, and also
Dell who in days of yore provided me with a
free laptop for Gnome development / conferences.
Also if you have the time to read this sort of stuff you could enlighten
yourself by going to Unraveling Wittgenstein's net or if
you are feeling objectionable perhaps here.

- Up early, dealt with the babes, washed up, hung out the
washing etc. while J. slept. Off to NCC, Tony speaking, did Creche.
- Back for lunch, and out to try to unwind Rose & Mike's
problems with AOL on their XP machine; wow - another impossibly painful
3+ hour nightmare of fighting the anti-virus / personal-firewall, so it
would allow the dial-up software to actually connect to the internet,
installation, partial de-installation, re-installation, and all of it
slower than (cold) poured treacle: again, not on a particularly slow
machine. Ultimately unsuccessful, though looking more hopeful - just
hideously frustrating: how many bright people have their lives poured
down the toilet in great handfuls by proprietary software ? that you
have to pay to loose any chance of real insight into what is going on
is unbelievable.
- Home, read books with the children, soup for dinner, bath
and put the babes to bed, more stories. Lay in bed reading the Silver
Chair happily with the wifelet.
In case it's not painfully obvious: the reflections reflected here are my
own; mine, all mine ! and don't reflect the views of Novell, The
Lithuanian Gov't or Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's also important to
realise that I'm not in on the Swedish Conspiracy.
Occasionally people ask for formal photos for conferences,
bio.
or fun.
