Form language (Japan/China)

This is the form language of traditional Japanese architecture.

Walls are made of wood and paper panels.

Roofs are sloping and curved, and they have tiles.

Each row of tiles has a decorative cap at the end, which also keeps water from dripping inside the roof's structure.

They didn't like diagonal beams to support roofs, so they had a sophisticated system of brackets that “sprout” from the columns and spread out towards the roof.
