Stuff Michael Meeks is doing
Tim, Suzie & Simon over to visit - really lovely
to see them, meet Simon, talk Graphite & type-setting of
texts - fun. Georgina, Adrian & Isabelle over for lunch as
well. Slugged happily by the fire and played with Simon for the
afternoon, Julie back for tea.
Worked through a backlog of tasks; tried to use the
iDealing UX again - simply an appalling experience - perhaps
if you pay lots of money for ultra-live pricing data it is
more usable; but in the absence of that - to even get an
approximate price for the last week or so - you have to use
google finance / random queries - leading to a simply
hideous experience; urk.
Played games in the morning; lunch, hung J's new
curtains, Julie arrived back; bid a sad 'bye to the family.
Nursed sick babes - watched The Truman Show - read
stories, slugged by the fire, triaged mail briefly in the
H. and N. ill; out to Angelsey Abbey with the rest of
the family - enjoyed the Water-mill in action (some 10kW of
grinding power). Georgina deferred due to illness; enjoyed a
buffet lunch together.
Snacked on it through the evening; watched The
Princess Bride; stayed up with H. playing Family Row -
and chatting happily.
Up; and to the hugely expanded Tesco store with J. in the
morning, somehow have escaped shopping there for some years,
interesting. Back for deep house-cleaning action; cleaned the car -
suspected turbulent air currents make only the back extremely dirty
it seems. Polished some brass with Bruce's wheel.
My parents arrived, followed by Rob & Amelia - while we
were out on a walk with the babes - testing M. and E's new Heelies -
persevering with them. Back home to feed them.
David over for dinner, played Saboteur Gold together, and
enjoyed a fine meal together; put babes to bed.
Out for a walk along Thorpness beach in the morning
to admire the extraordinary house with an ~entirely glass
set of ground-floor walls: weird.
Back for lunch; packed & left later in the
afternoon. Adventures in Odyssey in the car on
the way home - great stuff. Fed & put babes to bed.
Awoken rather early by little babes with lots of
exciting presents in stockings; enjoyed seeing them unpack
Breakfast, and off to Aldeburgh Church with Clive
& boys - which was packed for the morning service;
some good singing. Back for a lovely Xmas Turkey lunch.
Lots of present unwrapping, and snacking in the
later afternoon, followed by babes playing with presents
Breakfast; out to walk along Sizewell beach; lost
and re-found a hat of M's - with colour: 'striped';
practiced skimming stones on calm sea - rather warm for

Clive, boys & dog. Slept on sofa while others went for
a walk - exhausted somehow.
S&C - cooked lovely Salmon dinner; enjoyed
that, read stories, put babes to bed; stocking
Up late; mail chew, off to Aldeburgh for Christmas -
whoo. Worked hard on writing and thinking through annual
reviews, and having calls with Eloy, Lenny & Kendy.
Nice meal with B&A and family; slugged
Mail chew; ESC call - posted minutes. Re-filed
various tax returns. Caught up with Norbert. Watched
Bourne Identity with H. in the evening.
Financials, projections, budgeting for 2017, and all
that magic spreadsheet work (in Calc of course).
Up early; IRC meeting, worked on SOW; mail chew; lunch.
Monthly management meeting, out to talk with Ms Trampnow and pick
up the babes for their Christmas break. Back for a sync. with
Andras and Kendy.
Mail chew; meetings; tried for much of the day to
get out to post Christmas cards - but with no joy; bother.
H. creating lots of chocolate truffles in the kitchen - fun.
Lunch with H. and N. back to work - until late at night,
wrestled expense filing with J.
Up lateish; J. picked up H. Out for a walk with the babes,,
back for a great brunch. Packed up & out to The Apex at Bury
for annual Christmas Orchestra Carols, practiced & performed -
good fun; met an interesting dermatologist chap playing next
Lie-in, tidied the house a little, E. returned from
'Build a Bear' - amusingly with a glittery reindeer. Spent
some time bisecting an annoying hyphenation issue. Lunch;
chat with Tom & Becky with some ace crawling by S; H.
off to a sleep-over.
Out for a run; call with Kohei, Tamas & Kendy around calc
improvements. Sync with Bob, worked through big backlog of mail,

built proposals. Out for lunch with Bruce & Anne at the tack-house.
Poked at the 'online' socket code a little on return to unwind
an issue hurting the ESC.
Out to the Collabora Christmas dinner in Cambridge good fun,
good fun - kindly dropped home by Nick.
Up rather early for a meeting. Mail chew, patch review;
out to E's school play - the last Nativity Play at All Saints -
very good. Back, call with Alex, dinner, out to Soham College's
annual Carol Concert in Ely Cathedral; N. and H. performed
beautifully with their friends. Up very late writing up a
Up early; mail chew, call with Remo E, admin, lunch,
prepared for commercial call - and had that. Calls variously,
helped to get Aron setup. Dinner. Worked late with Kendy and
Fadi writing up R&D reports.
Mail chew; poked at bugs, planning. Consulting team
call; lunch; product team call. Worked late.
Woke early, played Violin at NCC in the morning; home
for a fine roast lunch, applied slugging much of the afternoon
with the babes. Sandra over with an encouraging story of
answered prayer. Practice for next weeks' orchestra concert,
tea, put babes to bed.
Drove to Warwick to see Rob & Amelia's place,
lovely to see David & Gillian, meet Katy, Nicholas, &
lots of their friends, wander up to see the castle and more.
A fine engagement celebration. Set off home with the babes at
6pm, got them to bed & went to bed ourselves.
Out for a run with J. shower, kids work meeting,
out to the old office (we moved yesterday) with J. to collect
some bits , had a final full-breakfast
baguette by the war memorial - lots of good memories of
Kett House; looking forward to seeing the new science park pad.
Home to fit dish-washer, customer call, mail chew.
Mail chew; really encouraged to see Kolab's lovely integration
with Collabora Online announced
and available for purchase. Wonderful to have them getting involved
with LibreOffice, doing testing, filing and triaging bugs up-stream
and so on, not to mention the polished marketing.
Finally got to some 2017 technical planning.
Prodded at mail, built ESC stats. Thrilled to have
Collabora Online 2.0 released
in conjunction with our partners. You can buy a LibreOffice
based Collabora Online with collaborative editing and long term
support now. We'll of course be releasing incremental improvements,
updates and fixes approximately each month as we move forward.
Thanks to all in the company & community - whose hard work &
dedication made this possible.
To work early; mail chew; finance planning call with
Tracie & Julie & latterly Kendy, lunch. Commercial call,
wrote up notes, sync. with Philippe.
Mail chew; bug poke-age. Out to Colin Kavanah's funeral
in Cambridge - a faithful and encouraging man of God; he will be
missed. Played the Violin with Mick & John; to the wake for
a fine lunch & to meet the family.
Back to work; customer call, TDF board call, dinner, put
babes to bed, back to working on a contract.
Up lateish; NCC - Tony spoke; back for lunch, relaxed
through the afternoon. Julie over in the evening.
Up lateish; mended things around the house variously.
Julie over for dinner.
Up rather early; train into London, arrived 30mins late
for a custome ermeeting, but 30mins before the other attendees - fun.
Out to the IET - Savoy Place for lunch & a meeting with Bob,
shopping, then out to dinner at an Indian restaurant - a fine day.
Train home lateish. Mail on the way home.
Mail chew; poked at various patches. Lunch. Out to collect
N. and E. and take them to their music exams: Voilin grades 4 and 1.
Back for the end of the ESC call.
Worked late, poking at profiles, sync. with Tomaz, quick
customer call, up late reading profiles.
