This is my (in)activity log. You might like to visit
Productivity a subsidiary of Collabora focusing on LibreOffice support and
services for whom I work.
Also if you have the time to read this sort of stuff you could enlighten
yourself by going to Unraveling Wittgenstein's net or if
you are feeling objectionable perhaps here. Failing that, there are all manner of interesting things to read on
the LibreOffice Planet news
Stuff Michael Meeks is doing
Feeling pretty awful; mail chew, 1:1 meetings, team
meetings, and so on. Project planning bits.
Up earlyish; to NCC to practice with Mel & the
music group; service, ran the teens work downstairs; picked
up Mary Rogers, and home for lunch together. Sandy dropped
Up lateish; onto the roof ridge to grease the angel
wind-vane sleeve bearing: fewer squeaks. Noticed E. had
written Trampoline with Elizabeth onto my list of
tasks - so did some of that too (and mended the trampoline).
Built new supporting, felted timber feet for our
unbelievably troublesome Furniture Village sofa,
and attacked it with an angle grinder - without catching it
alight; positive. Misc. slugging, pizza tea. Bed.
Out for a run with J. back; mail chew, customer call,
sync. with Niall, Quikee, sales call. Yes Minister in the
evening with H. and N.
Mail chew; sync. with Kendy; call with Marco; lunch.
ESC call; customer bits. Pleased to see Miguel & Nat exit
to Microsoft - lets see what good things they can do there.
Plugged away at bugs, and planning. John & Roy
over in the evening, up late.
Up early; dropped N. to revision club for SATS; mail
chew, sync with Laszlo & Andras; customer call. Plugged
away at UniScribe goodness; what fun.
Practice; mail chew; etc. call with Andras; quick lunch;
team meeting; another team meeting; drove E. to Addenbrooks for
a checkup; back - dinner - wrote LXF column.
NCC; Helen spoke; chat to Heather. Paul & Clara over for
lunch - enjoyed catching up with them; quartet practice.
Up; J. out counselling; quick mail chew, patch review. Poked
at banking bits. Lunch. David over; lovely to see him - out for a walk
at Moulton, good to get out. Back for dinner; up talking
Mail chew, pulling project pieces together; reading profiles;
partner call. Really pleased to see Mike Saunders joining us announced.
Run with J. and out for dinner together - lovely.
Mail chew; poked at bugs; chat with Marco, filed some queued
up easy hacks from my recent code reading & fixing.
Up early, mail chew; built ESC stats, sync. with Tor,
Niall, etc. Sue & Clive over. Good to see them; worked
late chasing nasties.
Mail chew; debugged a theming nasty - seems our theming
backends are not highly precise about the regions they render
into; dug at another corner-case. Lunch. Out for a walk with
M&D, bid 'bye to them. Sync call with Niall & Kendy.
Pleased to see Vulcan announced
if only because the API appears to dispense with the horror
implicit global variable based state / context nonsense of
OpenGL - finally a reasonably readable and self-documenting API;
Up; half-term; to work - H. learning the guitar quickly.
Plugged away at mail, admin; bug triage; chased an OpenGL nasty -
parents arrived. Team meeting, M&D. over - lunch; nailed the
bug; another team meeting; read bugs.
Up late talking with M&D.
Up; valentins day card swap-off. To NCC, Tony spoke;
on to Genr8 picking up a snack at home; fine service, picked
up a very tired N. and M. home. Chipmunks movie, lamb dinner,
Up earlyish; off with E. on her trip out with Daddy - to a
mystery destination (The Tower of London), much excitement, enjoyed
the Crown Jewels (miserable day so no queue), a nice lunch together.
E. managed to break her embedded plastic spoon on the ice-cream and
proceed to flick part of it into a passing lady's hair (and I thought
I'd seen the full gamut of ice-cream related disasters). Enjoyed
walking through the tower, around the walls etc. rather a good castle.
Across Tower Bridge & along the river back to London Bridge; tubes
and drove home. Slugged happily.
Up rather early; prayer breakfast @ NCC; mail chew;
sync. with Kendy & Andras, mail chew; customer call; poked
at some ugly bugs and reviewed tender documents until late.
Really thrilled by the Gravity Waves discovery - and more thrilled that
an old LibreOffice (in spirit) hacker friend Volker Quetschke
is listed among the authors as wellas in our very early
git logs. I still have fond
memories of his passionate descriptions of the problems of high
power laser inferometry in a Hamburg bar many years ago.
Built ESC stats; better late than never. Poked at project
planning and some bugs; closed a number of issues. ESC call.
Up lateish; still not terribly well. To action; read mail,
patches, chat with Jos. Plugged away at bugs, and piled up admin
Up early; mail chew, more code reading, chasing down a vile
GL crasher; sales team call - more work, apparently un-related to
recent commits - always fun. Finally created a workaround,
unfortunately GL drivers appear to mangle memory where valgrind
cannot go - poked Julian. Out to help at Scouts with M. back,
and up extremely late working with Emmanuel & Tomaz.
Up early; mail chew - call with Kendy, poked at a chunk of
tangled code; quick lunch; chat with Tor. Back to the typing
interspersed with some team calls. Worked rather late.
Up; read, NCC - did the teen work on the SOS bus
with J. an interesting vehicle. With night-clubs dying left
& right - will Newmarket still need it ?
Back for a fine roast lunch; slugged the afternoon
away - quartet practice with small girls; Back to the
Future II, stories & bed.
Up early; breakfast, poked at mail; did some project mgmt.
pieces; pizza lunch - out for a walk; worked much of the afternoon
in the lounge wit the family - worked late; prepared teen work for
Up earlyish, out for run with J. back, slugged and chatted.
Sue arrived, then B&A, Anthony & Louise - out for a birthday
celebration at Kings in town; picked up babes, home. Slept
exhaustedly for a while on the sofa; tea, bed early etc.
Into Cambridge for quarterly mgmt meetings; good to meet
everyone - interesting talks, filled out paperwork, etc. Out for
dinner in the evening; bed late.
Up lateish; mail chew, started on admin backlog - signed
paperwork, poked at expenses etc. Built ESC stats.
Checked out; train to Paris - Gare du Nord - not a very
pleasant place. Meeting in local hotel; encouraging stuff.
Eurostar onwards to Blighty - E-mail on the train etc.
Arrived at Kings X earlyish, just in time for an
endless round of delayed trains; horrors.
Up early; off to Petillon (vs. Pettiant?) - still trying to
get the sounds right; for a board meeting. Eventually people turned
up. Got through some part of the agenda by the afternoon, back for
some quick E-mail-ness. Out for a lovely dinner in the evening:
back to back ribs; bed late.
