yourself by going to Unraveling Wittgenstein's net or if
you are feeling objectionable perhaps here. Failing that, there are all manner of interesting things to read on

Stuff Michael Meeks is doing

helping H. mend a phone.

Up earlyish; out to Sandra's for a swim with everyone -
lots of fun; home for lunch - slugged and braided hair with
R & A. watched Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
together; checked mail.
Up earlyish, at the changed hour; out to Mowbray Community Church,
talk on the resurrection. Back for lunch. Out to a bird watching
walk in the hail with the family. Robert & Amelia came over
in the evening. Stayed up rather extremely late catching up
Up earlyish; off to Pickering to meet Amelia's family
lovely home, enjoyed a lovely time and a meal together. Out for a
walk to the train station, saw the steam trains and the
Engineering exhibit, carriage sheds, Pickering Castle, and home
again. Some tea, took babes home to bed.
Took a half-day; left J. and E. at home - and walked
down into town, along the river and back. Robert & Amelia
over for lunch; work later, and misc. slugging.
Mail chew; booked travel to the Ankara
hack-fest coming up at the end of April - should be fun.
Lunch; customer call - trying to connect to and debug
two separate Java applets in the browser - which of course
gums up the defined port to connect to. Another customer
call; ESC call, sync with JanI.
Set out to drive to Yorkshire - poor A14 experience around
Cambridge; E. repeatedly sick in the car - poor dear; put
a moist damper on hacking on CODE.
Mail chew, various bits of patch review and testing.
Lunch, customer call, chat with Thorsten, etc. Worked through
some of my gerrit review queue. Built ESC bug stats.
Read stories, and mended phone screen with H. in the

Really pleased to see: Designing with LibreOffice
released by Bruce Byfield; a great book with a distinctive
and practical approach "not the usual death march through
the menu and standard tasks" - I'd heartily recommend it
for people wanting to create styleish[sic], better, beautiful
Mail chew, meeting upon meeting, wrote a LXF column.
Positive meeting in the evening until late with Tony,
John & co.
Up early; played at NCC, home for a roast lunch;
Elize over to make a Globe Theatre cake with H. - fun.
Studied and read into the evening.
Up lateish; tested and merged calc currency patch,
reviewed another easy hack, reviewed Mike's lovely impress
regression fix with a comprehensive test document, and unit
test. Call with Mike.
Replaced, and planed down the kitchen base-boards -
there is something satisfying about connecting the vacuum
directly to the planeing machine.
Visited the Doctor; chat with Kendy, loved the Winston
Churchill quote in the Eye: Success is going from failure to
failure without loosing your enthusiasm.
Spent a while poking at admin, pipeline pieces, doing
some log-parsing / scripting pieces.
Mail chew; sucked into some mentoring & code
re-factoring / re-work; hmm. Lunch; reviewed another patch, why
do many of my Easy Hacks turn out to be harder than expected.
ESC call, Partner call, chat with Kendy; crunched some
log data, tried to organize myself.
Mail chew; admin, text review. Plugged at project
mgmt bits, customer call, another customer call - getting
Eclipse to debug parts of a Java applet - chasing a horrible
URP/IPC bug; what fun. Out to collect potatoes. Fixed a
silly VclPtr regression in 5.2.
Mail chew; good to see the floor re-appearing and the
kitchen slowly returning to functionality. Built ESC stats.
Reviewed Azorpid's nice new calc feature, provided a number of
suggestions to shrink and improve it.
Up; chap arrived to lay the floor - some frantic
un-plumbing / wiring of dish-washer, washing machine, cooker
etc. and stacking of furniture in the remaining spaces.
Found and replaced horribly dry-rotted floorboard
against the clock, interspersed with two team meetings, a
customer call, and sales team call. Fed babes, read stories
while J. studied.
Back to work; call with Laszlo; plugged away at
testing pieces for 18.104.22.168.
NCC; Tony spoke, home for Pizza lunch; set too dismantling
the back kitchen floor (questing for rot) to be ready for Monday;
took H. out to a mini-concert to prep for her exam soon. Back; more
linoleum and MDF removal; got most of the kitchen furniture into the
lounge; and all base-boards removed; good.
Up early; cooked breakfast - out into Cambridge for the
Science Fair. Enjoyed the Scott Polar bits, and (somehow) seduced
into the Chemistry department, where there were a series of rather
great experiments; from great vats of corn-flower, with people
running on them - to make your own PVA+Borax gloop, to ball and
stick chemical model making, and copious use of liquid nitrogen
variously. On via Pharmacology - dosing water fleas with alcohol
with their hard-to-see hearts. On to make aeroplanes with balsa-wood,
hot glue etc. Home, fish & chips, stories; bed.
Up early; Tim, Martin, Tor call - breakfast, out for
a run with J. more mail chew. Lunch. Customer call.

somewhat more taxing. Kids work meeting in the evening; back
Mothering Sunday - helped babes make bacon butties for
J. in bed, created a fine pile of cards & presents; sang
to her in bed while she ate; fine.
To church; Claire spoke on the sower, with sweets for
Teens & others. Home for lunch - applied slugging, book
reading etc. by the fire much of the afternoon.
J. off to a bereavement counselling course with Cruse - waited for H. and M.
to return from a sleep-over; lunch. Out to buy Mothering Sunday
goodies for J. together; wandered the town, playground etc.

Great to see Collabora
Office 5.0 released with a few key back-ports to support
Sorry to see Robert O'Callahan
leave Mozilla; a place that needs Christians; still excited about
the new focus on 'rr'.
Mail chew; poked at text anti-aliasing, and continued to
dig through the rats nest of sub-par Windows APIs we have to use.
Lunch; more debugging; ESC call, chat with JanI.
Call with Mike, one with Marco, started on mail; worked
through admin backlog by the afternoon. Couldn't sleep so worked
instead until unfeasibly early. Played with Eclipse - I would
have thought it would be rather easier to build a jar file there.
Mail chew; sales call; sync. with Niall. Built ESC bug
stats; chat with Cor. Call with Philippe.
