Stuff Michael Meeks is doing
Up, mail chew, team call, profiled OOXML import a bit.
Lunch, another team call. Read through over some hours the
recent online commits / work to summarize that.
Up an hour too early; DAB radio didn't update itself;
annoying - lift with Mel to church, played Violin; home with
Tony & Anne. Lunch. Played card and computer games with M.
and E. for a bit.
David over to kindly remove some rubbish from the garden,
great to get cleaned up. More games, David returned - caught up a
bit - interrupted by an influx of girls returning from a fun time
at YFC weekend, full of bounce. Tea, put babes to bed, sleep.
Up lateish; breakfast, N. picked up by a friend who kindly
dropped us at the station. Into Cambridge for a trip with Daddy for E.
Enjoyed the Botanical Gardens together, Nandos for lunch & a train
Played Descent, and Boswars with E. and M. for a bit - cooked
them dinner, stories & put them to bed. Tidied up, read the Economist,
poked at E-mail, bugs, patch profiling.
H. and friends out for a run in the morning, out
myself to meet Fliss & Alex - interesting. Back for
pizza lunch with the family.
Plugged at mail, patches, planning, bug priorities,
testing, some estimation and so on. J.H.N. left with Emily,
Elize & Katie for a YFC weekend. Read stories with M.
and E. and worked late. Sucked into 'Downfall' on iPlayer
until even later.
Mail chew; very fuzzy head cold, bits of planning, and
ordering. Poked at POSS travel, late lunch with Lydia; Grace over
to play with M. ESC call, minutes, reviewed JMux's idle re-work.
Mail chew; updated git repos. Drove south, while chewing
mail & bits in the car. Terrible traffic, lunch at Clumber
Park. Onwards home. Nailed a particularly silly unit test issue
of my own creation.
Home, signed and scanned paperwork, built ESC bug stats.
Commercial team call in the morning, worked to lunch.
Out to Brimham Rocks with the babes and Father; lots of
clambering over the rocks, lovely day for it - babes can now
almost supervise each other. Back for Price & Prejudice
DVD, tea, caught up with M&D.
Up; mail chew, consulting call, more mail bits, some
planning, quick lunch, product team call.
Melton Community Church in the morning; enthusiastic sermon.
Back for a fine roast-lamb lunch. Out to Sandra & Arnold's for a
fine family swim.
Up lateish; into town shopping with J,H,M - bought some
cakes, found some 2nd hand Terry Pratchet books. Home for lunch.
Read & slugged a bit, played with the babes. Watched Pride
& Prejudice. Out to Fountains Abbey in the dark with the babes
to hear a lovely concert in a ruined vaulted passage - enjoyed the
ruins, admired the stars, home.
Music practice with babes. Mail chew; call with Andras.
Lunch. Plugged away at more mail, prodded some unit testing
pieces. J. drove us to Yorkshire in the evening, hacked on
unit test reliability all the way.
Mail chew, encouraged to see Seafile 6.0 released
with Collabora Online integration expanding the list of our
with shipping integrations.
Did some competitive review. ESC call. Poked at a problem
document. Took babes to Youth for Christ; helped H. with trig.
picked them up, put babes to bed. Back to work.
Mail chew, poked at some bugs; fixed LOK scheduler
locking issue found by yesterday's checks. Lunch; call with
Tomaz. Plugged at actions; out to visit Colin at West Suffolk
Hospital: some encouraging progress.
OSCON booth-ness; commercial team call; wrote up
minutes. Caught up with various people, lunch, demo'd
LibreOffice to people. Off early, train home - knocked
up scheduler locking assertions on the train. Tea, read
stories, collected M. from cubs; hacked while J. had her
Early to rise; train to London, Edgware Road. Met
Giovanni, and helped at the OSCON LibreOffice booth with
him. Good to catch up with Karen & the SFC guys, a number
of interesting people around to talk with.
Out to the JS Foundation launch event in the evening.
Off to Church, ran older kids group went well; home for roast pork
lunch. Slugged a bit, disassembled lego mindstorms robot
and started re-assembling it. Read Adrian Plass to kids
variously; put them to bed. Gordon sermon on 2 Samuel.
Dropped H. at Accelerate young leaders' training, and
into Cambridge with everyone else; took N. on her trip: to
the science museum - had a lovely time together. Lunch at the
cafe, pottered around, back - reading Guards, Guards!
on the train, somewhat cleaned up. Home, tea, put babes to
bed, explained inverse functions to H. for her maths homework.
Prepped kids group for tomorrow based on Tim Keller's
The Reason for God.
Tidied up, and setup hardware variously; prodded routers etc.
Mail chew, lunch, customer call. Registered myself and Giovani for
in London Monday/Tuesday - to run a LibreOffice booth - come and see us.
Into Cambridge by train, C'bra Quarterly mgmt meetings,
lunch, ESC call, out for dinner in the evening with the lads &
lasses - fun. Back to the office, played with the vive in a larger
space; packed up servers to re-locate them via Taxi with Matt; home,
bed v. late.
Mail chew, admin, mail; grief. Dunged out the workshop
to take delivery of a compile / performance cluster from the
Cambridge office tomorrow. Reviewed TDF staff / work priorities.
Updated to re-tests Markus' interesting
Built ESC bug stats, commercial call, customer call. Lunch. Mail turnaround,
setup customer call, admin. Out in the evening with J. while M. was at cubs.
Breakfast, mail chew, team meetings, planning, and more.
Worked late, while Simon trained the counselling team.
Played Violin at NCC in the morning, speaker from
Back for lunch with Bruce & Anne, played games with the
babes until tea. Tired babes to bed early.
Pottered around in the morning, J. disappeared for a
while to meet H's friend - Charlotte's parents as H. went for
a sleepover. Chat with Mum. Late lunch. David arrived, also N's
friend Emma, Bobby & Tyson.
Spent some time angle-grinding, and hammering a washing
line scaffold pole socket into the garden; verticality and
sledge-hammers are hard. Out to Brandon for a walk with David,
and back for Pizza & Birthday cake ,
enjoyed catching up with David.
Mail chew; plugged away at trying to make Collabora
Office 5.1 (built on RHEL6) run nicely on RHEL5 - what I need
is flatpack of course. Cobbled together some horrors to help.
Lunch; plugged away at bugs a little.
Mail, admin, prodded bits of code here & there.
Lunch; ESC call. Plugged away at Product Management'y bits
in the evening.
Mail chewage; managed to intersperse admin bits with
small amounts of hacking - fun. Poked at bugs variously, and
some unit testing pieces.
Built ESC stats, looking good regression-wise; rotated
SSDs into windows machine to speed up builds there.
Up; very groggy - mail chew, consultancy call; some profiling.
Lunch, product team call, poked at bugs variously, started clearing
a long backlog of tasks.
Up, breakfast, Mel took me to NCC; lemsip, played in
the music group; home. Slugged, cleaned up the under-stairs
cupboard, watched program with H. and N.
Amused to find an
old laptop bag under the stairs, which N. dunged out - and
included an old OpenOffice.org Open Source Project Joint

Dinner, put babes to bed early, read stories; bed.
Woke early, poked at some mail & regressions.
Dunged out storage spaces, lots of obsolete PC's boxes.
Got around to making up H's attic fire-escape rope. Lunch.
Put up new shelves, dunged out cruft from under the
floor, and re-routed telephone and ethernet cables to my
office to allow J. to replace the rather tired hall carpet.
Under the floor in the dust with E. and M. for a long time
. Finally got things back into some order -
but overcome by awful cold.
